Tunji Wusu –
On Tuesday, July 25, DSS agents re-arrested suspended CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele.
After a confrontation with members of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCS) at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, DSS re-arrested him.
According to Channels Television, Justice Nicholas Oweibo granted bail in the amount of N20 million to the embattled and suspended apex bank boss.
In addition, the judge mandated that Emefiele remain in custody until his bail requirements were met.
When the jail staff attempted to detain Emefiele pending the completion of his bail requirements, the secret police opposed them, which started a fight.
Emefiele’s attorneys “reluctantly allowed the DSS to disobey court order and take custody of their client” in order to avoid a legal battle amid the chaos.
DSS agents led the CBN governor who had been suspended from office out of the courthouse and into their waiting vehicle at precisely 3:03 p.m.
