On Monday, the State Criminal Investigation Department’s anti-kidnapping section, Gombe State Police Command, claimed to have killed a suspected kidnapper while wounding two others who managed to flee.

According to solid information, a three-man gang of suspected kidnappers was spotted at the Lawanti axis of the state’s Akko Local Government Area. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mahid Abubakar, his men and local vigilantes/hunters tracked them down.

Abubakar revealed that an AK-47, a magazine with five live rounds, and a Honda Bajaj motorcycle were found by the rescue squad.

The officer in charge of the unit, along with the hunters and vigilante groups, mobilized to the area after receiving the information, he added, and engaged the kidnappers in a gunfight.

One of the suspects was neutralized by the police’s firepower, and the others fled the scene after suffering bullet wounds. An AK-47 weapon, a magazine containing five live rounds, and a Honda Bajaj motorcycle were found and preserved as exhibits.

According to the police spokesperson, Oqua Etim, the state’s police commissioner, acknowledges and encourages all peace-loving residents to continue providing the command with reliable information that will result in the arrest and detention of criminal elements.
