I complained to him that I had no road to my village, and without blinking an eye, he is constructing a state of the art road to Agila. This is in addition to appointments that he gave to some of our people in vintage positions in his government. I am confident
that with his unprecedented gesture, the appointment of the acting chairman of Benue Internal Revenue Services will, in no time, be made permanent.

“Given the fact that the age-long volatile Benue and Ebonyi interstate border conflict along the restive Agila and Ngbo ended in your time confirms the hands of God in your affairs. Your
excellency, you may laise with your Ebonyi State counterpart to formerly re-establish the boundary in order to make the peace permanent.

“This is a milestone event that heralds a new era in healthcare delivery for our beloved community (Agila). As we gather to witness this historic moment, I am filled with a sense of pride, hope, and gratitude. Pride, because we have come together as a people to achieve something truly remarkable. Hope, because this medical foundation represents a brighter future for our children, families, and our community. And gratitude, because we have been blessed with a son, Chief John Otse Aboh who God has blessed with the resources, vision and dedication required to make this dream a reality.

“The Agila Comprehensive Medical Foundation is more than just a healthcare facility – it is a beacon of hope, a symbol of our collective commitment to the wellbeing of our people. This foundation is the culmination of years of tireless efforts, unwavering perseverance,
and selfless contribution of an individual whose love for father’s land is enormously large.

“As we commission this medical foundation, we are not only celebrating the realization of a long held vision, we are also reaffirming our commitment to the values of compassion, empathy, and service to humanity. We are declaring to the world that we the Agila people

“This occasion marks not only the realization of my personal dream but as well the beginning of a new chapter in the healthcare delivery system in our immediate Agila community, the neighbouring communities and beyond.

“As we gather for this auspicious event, I recount the challenges that the people had faced in area of medical care challenges that impacted negatively on every aspect of their well being. Agila is a classical example of the healthcare delivery situation in many rural communities in this country.”

Recounting his journey into this noble project, he recalls “On Saturday 5 December, 2009, when the entire Agila community came together to honour me with the traditional chieftaincy title Of Odoojor, I recalled in my acceptance response, emphasizing that any child who was born in our time survived just by the grace of God. That statement underscored the complete absence of any form of orthodox medical facility in the area. Unfortunately, that pathetic situation persists. Our expectant mothers still die of child birth, while other people get deformed or even die of preventable common ailments.

“It is with the view to addressing this seemingly ordinary but perilous situation that I thought it pertinent to put up this modest facility, Agila Comprehensive Medical Foundation is a 56-bed edifice with state of the art medical equipment, which include dialysis and radiographic machines. Situated in a serene and secured environment for ideal medical services, it enjoys a 24-hour electricity supply through solar converter, with a 33 KVA sound proof standby generator. There is also a motorized borehole for uninterrupted water supply

Your Excellencies, our Royal fathers, invited guests, please permit me to use this occasion to sincerely appreciate all those whose encouragement, in various ways, contributed largely to the success of this project While I recognize everyone in this regards, I must specially give honour to Chairman of this occasion, our father, leader and leader of inestimable quality, Chief Dr. Mike Okibe Onoja, CON, Agama y’Agila and Akanaba k’ldoma, whose invaluable inputs are most cherished.

Enumerating the concept behind the establishment of the healthcare centre, he said “Agila Comprehensive Medical Foundation was conceptualized to be more than just facility for clinical services. It aims for a holistic health care delivery strategy to improve the general wellbeing of the people .The Centre shall engage the regular staff in periodic refresher courses in order to keep them abreast of ever changing demand global medical field. It shall provide practical training for students from recognized medical institutions.

“In addition to providing the rural communities with necessary acces to quality healthcare through advanced medical resources, the Centre is positioned to facilitate comprehensive health education. Apart from the regular clinical services provided by qualified professionals, it shall arrange formal training of the people at approved medical schools in order to boost the staff strength and create reservoir of auxiliary heath providers. This will eventually generate unquantifiable multiplier effect to enhance basic health education and awareness among the rural dwellers.

Your Excellency, I facilitated the establishment of Agila Comprehensive Medical Foundation as my modest contribution to the healthcare delivery policy of your pragmatic, purposeful people-oriented administration.

“On behalf of your good people of Agila, the people that cherish you immensely for the lot that you have done for us, both in terms of appointments and infrastructural development, I wish to appeal to you that Benue State Government takes over the facility. We are ready to provide every necessary assistance that may be required of us to facilitate its formal take off.”

The Ado Council Boss, Hon. Engr. Oche Sunny Oche in his opening remark as the Chief Host of the occasion admitted that the Agila Comprehensive Medical Foundation is a timely project, addressing the critical need for accessing healthcare at the grassroot level.

Hon. Oche who commended governor Alia’s instrumental role in facilitating the long-awaited peace between Agila community and Ngbo neighbouring communities of Ebonyi State said the restored peace paves the way for significant developmental strides in the area, which the Agila Comprehensive Medical Center is part of.

The council boss while drawing the attention of the governor to the richly endowment of natural and human resources in the lga said

“Ado Local Government is richly endowed with natural and human resources, evidenced by our citizens’ prominent roles in both the public and private sectors. The Agila Comprehensive Medical Foundation is a timely project, addressing the critical need for accessible healthcare at the grassroots level.

“My gratitude extends to our dear Governor for fostering a collaborative environment between the public and private sectors, enabling community development initiatives like this one. We also express profound appreciation to Chief John Otse Aboh for his exemplary generosity and commitment to this noble project.

“This initiative highlights the crucial role of private individuals and organizations in partnering with government to improve the lives of our people. Government alone cannot meet the growing needs of our populace; therefore, we encourage more community-focused projects, especially at the grassroots level.

“Your Excellency’s transformative agenda is evident in the ongoing development across Benue State, including the ongoing Igumale-Agila road construction project – a clear demonstration of your commitment to Ado Local Government. This contrasts sharply with the neglect experienced under previous administrations. The people of Ado express their sincere gratitude for your leadership and commitment to our development.

“We are an agrarian community with fertile land. To enhance productivity, we request support in the form of mechanized farming equipment (tractors), improved seedlings, and other modern agricultural technologies to boost Benue State’s food production.

“Furthermore, Ado is rich in mineral resources such as limestone and coal. We appeal for the development of cottage industries to create job opportunities for our numerous graduates. We eagerly anticipate the commissioning of the Igumale Cement Company.

While acknowledging the national security challenge, we also appeal for intervention in addressing the persistent harassment of our farmers and the destruction of their crops.

I urge the people of Agila and Ado Local Government to support Governor Alia’s administration to attract further development. We must all take ownership of this medical facility to ensure its long-term success.
