To increase food production, the Ebonyi State Government has vowed to deploy mechanized farming in the state’s grassroots areas.
Mrs. Nkechinyere Iyioku, the Commissioner for Agriculture, revealed this over the weekend while speaking with journalists in Abakaliki.
According to the Commissioner, the mechanized method will reduce farmers’ stress during farming, boost farmers’ abilities and production, and increase state security.
She also stated that mechanized agricultural practices in the state will increase the state’s economy, consequently lowering poverty and food insecurity concerns in the state.
She did, however, ensure that the Nwifuru agricultural reforms will benefit all Local Government Areas in the state.
“I’d like to thank the governor for this appointment.” We all know that Ebonyi is recognized as an agrarian state, and this administration plans to take its agricultural prowess to the next level by mechanizing farming.
“I will ensure that farmers, particularly those at the grassroots, benefit from this mechanization reform because it will reduce poverty and achieve food security while improving Ebonyians’ livelihoods.”
“You know, we used to hear the theory that many farmers before now, if any inputs are given to them, they will sometimes not get it, even if they are true farmers.” “I assure Ebonyians that such an event will never occur under my watch.”
“Most of our rural women are farmers, and they will benefit this time.” “We will revise our strategies so that the state government can help every farmer in the state improve their skills and produce,” she said.
