The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, has firmly stated that he is not abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). This clarification comes amid rumors regarding his relationship with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, which some have interpreted as a potential shift to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Addressing these speculations during a media event in Uyo, coinciding with Akwa Ibom State’s 37th anniversary celebrations, Eno urged the public to differentiate between political affiliations and governance responsibilities. He expressed his respect for Akpabio as Senate President and emphasized their collaborative efforts to enhance the state’s development.

Governor Eno underscored the benefits of Akpabio’s national prominence, stating his commitment to leveraging this relationship for the advancement of Akwa Ibom. He remarked, “The first benefit of this relationship is the peace we are currently enjoying, which may lead some to believe I am indecisive.”

He reaffirmed, “I am a PDP member and will continue to support the party. We need to distinguish between party politics and governance. As we approach the elections, I am actively campaigning for the PDP, and I am confident we will succeed.”

Addressing accusations about his demeanor, Eno stated, “There is no ambiguity in my stance; I am dedicated to the PDP, demonstrating to our constituents that we are trustworthy. Our administration is making strides across all local governments, with no area left behind.”

He concluded by encouraging voters to evaluate his administration’s accomplishments: “I want the electorate to compare our achievements with the alternatives and make informed decisions based on visible progress.”
