Tunji Wusu –
The withdrawal of the fuel subsidy and the subsequent increase in the price of gasoline at the pump have left Nigerians in a difficult situation, and the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has stated that it is collaborating with the federal government to address this.
As the forum’s chair and governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma, addressed the media after its final closed-door meeting on Wednesday night in Abuja, she made this statement.
State governors who were elected under the banner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) make up the PGF.
The meeting, according to Mr. Uzodinma, was successful and covered party business as well as other national concerns.
“The current suffering brought on by the rise in the cost of living and the price of food and fuel items is being addressed.
“The sub-national government is working with the federal government to address the development,” Mr. Uzodinma added.
He further stated that when the National Economic Council (NEC) met, it will be discussed how to address the situation to ease the load on the populace.
The PGF head gave his word that the governors would use their federal funding wisely and in their constituents’ best interests.
According to him, the governors would also see to it that the nation’s economy was safeguarded and that our sovereign margin on the global market was increased rather than diminished.
According to Mr. Uzodinma, the governors accepted Abdullahi Adamu’s and Iyola Omisore’s recent voluntary resignations as the party’s national chairman and national secretary in good faith.
He continued by noting that the governors respected their decisions and praised their intelligence, claiming they had done well and benefited the party.
“We are satisfied with their services, and they are satisfied with our satisfaction; we support their acts, and we will continue to endorse them.
“We honor and value the contributions they have made to our great party, and the party leadership has accepted their resignations.
According to Mr. Uzodinma, “We now have an acting national chairman and acting national secretary,” and in contrast to rumors, the APC was united and had no internal crisis.
Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, Umar Bago of Niger, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Uba Sani of Kaduna, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, and Dikko Radda of Katsina are a few of the governors present at the meeting.
