The Federal Government has launched an advanced Asphalt Testing and Material Characterization Laboratory at the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute to enhance Nigeria’s engineering and construction sectors. At Wednesday’s commissioning in Abuja, Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, described the initiative as a critical investment in education, research, and national development.
“This is more than just infrastructure,” said Nnaji. “It’s a commitment to empowering our institutions and fostering innovation.”
The ceremony also included handing over advanced construction equipment to six federal universities nationwide. Nnaji emphasized that this initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, supporting sustainable infrastructure, job creation, and economic growth. The lab and new equipment aim to equip educational institutions to develop local solutions for Nigeria’s infrastructure needs and empower future engineers and innovators.
