The governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah, has mandated that all local government employees in the state undergo verification and biometric collection.
The instruction was stated in a statement made on Wednesday in Enugu by Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, the secretary to the state government (SSG).
The verification committee will be officially inaugurated on Friday at Government House in Enugu, according to the state government.
The government further stated that the verification committee will randomly visit any of the state’s 17 local governments on any working day of the week during the exercise, which would start on Friday and last until the end of February 2024.
Employees are thus asked to report for duty with their appointment letters and duty schedules in hand in order to undergo biometric scanning and verification.
The government issued a warning, saying, “Those absent and others confirmed not to have been fulfilling the terms of their employment shall cease to be government employees.”
