In his statement, issued on Saturday, Governor Sanwo-Olu conveyed his condolences to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra, and Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, expressing solidarity during this difficult time.

The stampedes occurred during food distribution events at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Maitama, Abuja, and at a community center in Okija, Anambra. These incidents follow a similar tragedy in Ibadan, where 35 people lost their lives during a children’s carnival.
