  • N1.1 Trillion Budget Marks Fubara’s Second Fiscal Plan
  • Tensions Escalate as Lawmakers Defect Amid Assembly Crisis
  • Partial Assembly Complex Demolition Adds to Political Drama

Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State has presented the 2025 budget proposal of N1.1 trillion to a faction of the State House of Assembly led by Victor Oko-Jumbo.

Fubara’s letter seeking approval for the budget presentation was read during a plenary session by the four-member Assembly faction on Monday. This marks his second budget presentation since taking office.

The 2024 budget proposal, totaling N800 billion, was previously submitted to another four-member Assembly faction under Edison Ehie’s leadership.

This latest presentation occurred amid heightened political tensions, including the partial demolition of the State Assembly complex. The situation stems from a political rift, where 27 lawmakers led by Martin Amaewhule defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), aligning with former Governor Nyesom Wike.

Ehie, who resigned as Speaker, was subsequently appointed as Fubara’s Chief of Staff.
