Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has openly criticised a contractor over what he described as a misplaced construction priority at an ongoing hospital project in the state.

A viral video that surfaced online on Wednesday captured the governor expressing frustration during an inspection visit to the site. The footage was shared by Uche Nworah, a former Special Adviser on General Duties to the Director-General of the Nigerian Meteorological Agency.

In the video, Governor Eno confronted the contractor for allegedly beginning work on a mortuary instead of essential hospital facilities meant to serve patients. He stressed that the primary objective of the project was healthcare delivery, not ancillary structures.

“I said build a hospital and you started with a mortuary. Don’t say that again,” the governor declared, signalling strong disapproval of the construction sequence.

The video has since sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many users debating project planning, accountability, and government oversight in public infrastructure development.
