Babatunji Wusu –
The recent bombing in Tudun Biri, Igabi Local Government Area, has been classified as purposeful by renowned Islamic scholar Sheikh Ahmad Gumi of Kaduna State, defying official claims that it was an accident.
Gumi decried the killing of women, children, and the elderly at his weekly speech at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna. He implied that the military acted deliberately, believing they were hitting terrorist families.
Gumi questioned the story that the bombing was an error, given that villagers had stated that a second bomb was thrown on people who were removing the bodies.
The researcher contended that some of the military’s activities in the forest have been made public by the incident.
He brought up his earlier appeals, which he says were mainly disregarded, for attention to be paid to the suffering of innocent villages impacted by security operations.
Gumi remarked, “People wouldn’t listen to me when I repeated warning you not to invite people who see war as a solution. It is now here. Since it affects everyone, war is never funny. You keep insisting they should be killed, even though I warned you about this.
“You will be the one slain. That bomb was intended to murder certain people’s wives and children by going after their families. I saw a village in a distant forest where women and children had been massacred.
“There have been numerous bombings. No one spoke up until it got closer to the city. I have consistently advocated for peaceful negotiation about whatever issue that arises, be it bandits or Boko Haram.
“Nobody in this country can inform me; I attempted to solve the issue, but we didn’t get any help. The government was acting hypocritically, believing that they could prevail by both discussion and force.
“These individuals gathered in an area where women and kids were present, and since the drones were equipped with cameras, they saw the individuals and surmised that these were some people’s wives and kids. You all would have justified it, I’m sure, if they had obtained the relatives of those individuals.
However, they made the error of aiming at those who are not their objective. We believe that no one ought to be the target of these bombs. This is due to the fact that we oppose killing women, children, or the old, regardless of whether they are IPOB members.
“We will never condone the murder of women and children belonging to IPOB. Combat in person is preferable to bombing civilians. Nobody will even bomb IPOB, after all. Did you hear anyone dropping bombs on those who are attacking the Fulani communities in Oyo?
“These explosives were designed to deliberately target certain individuals, but God revealed them because He was upset that innocent lives were being taken. We pray that the victims were martyred. Yet no one ought to inform me that I made a mistake. No, it was deliberate since other people were the intended target. It’s time to bring out the bomb dropper.
“The people claimed the first bomb killed some people and that 30 minutes later the second bomb was dropped. If the first bomb was a mistake, should the second bomb be a mistake?”
