Gunmen Ambush Abia Governor’s Advance Team Near Sam Mbakwe Airport

An advance team from the Office of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, came under fire early Monday when unidentified gunmen ambushed their vehicle along the Umuowa–Ihite axis, just before the Sam Mbakwe Airport Junction in Imo State.

The three-member team was on official duty to the airport when the attackers opened fire, forcing them to take evasive action. Authorities confirmed that no life was lost, and the main convoy of Governor Otti was nowhere near the scene of the attack.

The Abia State Government has urged the public to remain calm, assuring that security agencies have launched investigations to track down the perpetrators.
