APC chairman John Mai Kyau and his son were shot and killed by gunmen in Mangu local government in Plateau state.
The politician was assassinated in his home in Halle Ward, a village in Bureh.

In the Mangu Local Council’s Allah Na Nakowa hospital, his wife and another son who were wounded in the leg and stomach managed to flee with gunshot wounds.

An uncle of the victim and a prominent member of the community named Dan Mangu told The Nation that “the attack occurred around 8:00pm Bureh village” on Wednesday.

Around 8:00 p.m., more than 60 herdsmen entered Mangu Halle Ward in Bureh Village and made their way to the victim, an important APC chieftain, he claimed.

He claimed that the assailants forced their way inside the home and started shooting at them in the parlor, killing him and his son.

The nation was informed that security had been sent to the neighborhood to settle things down.

In the midst of unrest in the town, Hon. John and his son were buried on Thursday afternoon.
