In Kusa village in the Musawa local government area of Katsina State, bandits ambushed a parade of Maulud celebrants, resulting in several deaths and injuries, including women and children.

Eighteen people in all were impacted; some were admitted to the Musawa General Hospital and others to the Katsina Orthopaedic Hospital for the purpose of extracting bullets.

Around 11:05 p.m. on Sunday, the bandits started shooting at the parade; several people were also taken from the site.

It was learned that the assailants had left the area prior to the security personnel showing up.

The State Police Command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, confirmed the story to media representatives, stating that there were 18 victims in total.

For medical attention, they were airlifted to a hospital. Two of them passed away later. The PPRO said, “Further investigation is underway in an effort to apprehend any offenders and prosecute them.
