As gunmen abducted Ugoeze Umugborogu, the wife of the traditional ruler in Okigwe Local Government Area of Imo State on Wednesday, there is unrest in the Amuro Village.
Due to regular shooter attacks, the Amuro autonomous community’s residents have already been forced to flee their homes, creating a situation of turmoil.
According to information obtained by Nigerian Tribune, the neighborhood has seen widespread panic as a result of the frequent reports of attacks.
The ferocious gunmen also set fire to the chairs of the All Progressives Congress and Labour Party’s country estates in Amuro ward after kidnapping the monarch’s wife.
According to a local source who asked to remain anonymous, the attackers set the houses on fire as soon as they got at the scene.
“They demolished Ifediora Umegboroagu’s home, the leader of the Labour Party in the Amuro district, after taking the woman prisoner,” he claimed. The man and his family were gone when they struck.
According to the source, the ward’s APC chairman’s residence was also completely destroyed.
A center for criminal activities has lately emerged in the Okigwe Local Government District. Recall that on Tuesday, gunmen in the Amagu Ihube community of the Okigwe LGA destroyed five homes, including those of Emeka Okoronkwo, the state commissioner for youths and sports; Nnamdi Obiaraeri, a former dean of the law school at Imo State University; Nnaemeka Ngwu, a retired director of the State Security Service; and two others.
When reached, Henry Okoye, the spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, stated that he hadn’t yet received a briefing on the most recent events.
