On Saturday, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers stormed the Shendai community in the Namu District of Plateau State. The armed men, about ten in number, arrived at the community around 9:00 pm. They abducted four people at gunpoint, while a man attempting to escape was shot and killed during the attack.

The Executive Chairman of Qua’Pan Local Government, Hon. Christopher Audu, expressed deep concern over the increasing frequency of kidnappings and other criminal activities in the area. In a statement, Audu offered condolences to the community for the loss and called on security agencies to ensure the safe release of the kidnapped victims.

In response to the incident, Audu initiated a fact-finding mission to the affected area, accompanied by security forces led by Lt. Col. Ogunrinde Soji, the local police, and several councillors from the Namu District. The team assessed the security situation and provided reassurance to the families of the deceased and the abducted victims, reiterating the government’s commitment to ensuring the safety of citizens and collaborating with security agencies for a swift resolution.
