Nurudeen Ibrahim, 58, was found guilty of conspiracy, using a false pretense with the goal to defraud, and indecent assault. The court sentenced him to five years in jail with hard labor in the Ekiti State Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti.

Ibrahim was charged with three counts of indecent assault, false pretense with the aim to defraud, and conspiracy. He appeared in court on these counts.

“That the defendant and others now at large conspired to commit felony, to wit: felony, also did under false pretense and with intent to defraud obtain N10.4m from one Yinka and as well as indecently assault the complainant,” the charge stated in Aramoko Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government Area, Ekiti State, in September 2019.

The offenses were punishable under sections 516, 419, and 353 of the Criminal Code Cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State of Nigeria, 2012, according to police prosecutor Inspector Elijah Adejare.

Adejare summoned seven witnesses and submitted exhibits including a Toyota Camry automobile, fetish literature, victim and defendant statements, and victim’s account images taken while the victim was ill.

Speaking via his attorney, Busuyi Ayorinde, the defendant refuted several accusations while acknowledging that he had taken N8 million from the victim.

Magistrate Olatomiwa Daramola delivered her ruling, declaring, “I find the defendant not guilty for the offence of conspiracy; he is discharged and acquitted.”
