…Striker to link up with Arteta’s squad for Asia tour
…Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirms final approval

Sporting CF striker Viktor Gyokeres is on the brink of joining Arsenal after receiving official clearance to undergo medicals with the Premier League club.

Both Arsenal and Sporting CP have finalized all legal documents, exchanging and approving the transfer agreement, paving the way for the Swedish forward to travel and complete his move to North London.

According to trusted football journalist Fabrizio Romano, the 26-year-old has been granted formal authorization to fly in for his medicals, scheduled to begin within the next 24 hours.

Romano shared the update via his X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday afternoon, stating:
“Viktor Gyökeres, new Arsenal player as every document has now been approved and exchanged. Arsenal and Sporting completed the process with formal authorization to travel — medical to start in next 24h. Gyökeres, coming soon.”

Gyokeres is expected to join Mikel Arteta’s squad on their pre-season tour of Asia once the medicals are complete, marking a significant addition to the Gunners’ attacking options ahead of the 2025/2026 campaign.

The Swedish international netted 43 goals in all competitions last season for Sporting and has been one of Europe’s most in-demand strikers this summer.
