Senator’s Family Home Comes Under Attack in Kogi
Cutlass-Wielding Hoodlums Strike at Midnight, Investigation Ongoing
Unidentified hoodlums armed with cutlasses and firearms invaded the family residence of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in the early hours of Tuesday, vandalizing parts of the property and shattering windows.
The attack occurred around 1:00 a.m. in Obeiba-Ihima, located in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The incident was revealed by Zagazola Makama, a well-known counter-insurgency expert covering the Lake Chad region, through a post on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Thursday.
Makama disclosed that intelligence sources confirmed the report came from the Senator’s Chief Security Officer, Yakubu Ovanja, who alerted local security agencies immediately after the incident.
“Following a distress alert, a team of security operatives from Okehi Division swiftly mobilized to the scene,” Makama wrote.
“While no casualties were recorded and no arrests have been made, the premises were documented and preliminary investigations have commenced.”
According to police sources, the motive behind the attack remains unclear as investigation continues. Officers have also begun analyzing the scene to track down the assailants.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has yet to issue a public statement as of the time of filing this report.
The violent attack raises fresh concerns over security in politically sensitive areas of Kogi State, especially as the region gears up for heightened political activities.
