The House of Representatives has confirmed Olufemi Oluyede as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), solidifying his role after a swift screening process by the Joint Committee on Army and Defense.
Chairman of the Committee on Defense, Babajimi Benson, presented the approval report following the screening held on Wednesday.
Oluyede’s nomination by President Bola Tinubu came after the ill health and subsequent passing of the former COAS, Taoreed Lagbaja. With his confirmation, Oluyede is set to officially lead the Nigerian Army, taking on the mantle during a critical period for national defense.
