Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, a former governor of Nasarawa State, has put an end to persistent rumors that he and Governor Abdullahi Sule, his replacement, had a falling out.
The alleged unhappiness is unfounded, according to Al-Makura, a senator who also represents Nasarawa-South in the National Assembly’s upper chamber.
From 2011 to May 2019, Senator Al-Makura served as governor of Nasarawa State until handing over to the current governor.
He claimed that rumors of alleged animosity between him and the current governor were spread by troublemakers.
On Saturday in Lafia, the state capital, he clarified the situation during the opening of his campaign advisory council in advance of the 2023 elections.
However, he claimed that certain misguided individuals attempted to foment strife between him and Governor Sule but were unsuccessful.
“I want to use this platform to put an end to the rumors that His Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, and I had a falling out.
“Some individuals attempted to obstruct us, but they were unsuccessful. We are in a friendly relationship and are together. Insha’Allah, we are cooperating to assure his election for a second term.
In order to ensure that the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates won at all levels of elections in 2023, he asked party members to cooperate.
He claimed not to believe in factions while pleading with all party members to do so for the good of the organization.
“APC is APC; I reject the idea of factions because they are harmful. I want to make a plea to all interested parties and party members to avoid partisan politics and fight for the interests of our beloved party as a whole,” he said.
