Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers, has committed to focus solely on leadership up to his last day in office.
Despite the continuing political campaigns, the governor declared that he will continue to be committed to bringing more projects to the state’s communities.
On Thursday, Heineken Lokpobiri, a former minister of state for agriculture, and Wike conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for the 17th internal road in the Rumuigbo village of the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area.
Additionally, Wike gave N200 million to help Uchechukwu Isaiah Elikwu, the Eze Epara Rebisi XII, restore his palace.
The Governor claimed that as part of his social contract with the Rivers people, who gave him their mandate, he was obligated to continue serving them till the end of his term in office.
Up to May 29th, 2023, Wike promised to keep the residents of Rivers satisfied and deliver infrastructure.
We think that party is a means of getting you to where you want to go, he said. After communicating your destination, you descend and start doing governance.
“Lokpobiri, we just invited you to visit the State and observe what we are up to.
“The campaign is diverting so many people. The campaign will not divert our attention. The growth of our community is what we wish to concentrate on. I shall continue to work until May 29, 2023, the day on which my contract with the people of Rivers State expires.
Reminding them of the restoration work done on the Omoi-Orosi road with the drains channeled down Okocha Streets to the neighboring creek, he disputed criticisms that the Rumuigbo community had never benefited from his administration.
Wike claimed that the contractor also took care of the Obi Wali Road, but he noted that the region was still impacted by recurring flooding.
Wike informed the Rivers administration that the property would be purchased for that purpose and referred to a specific piece of land that was thought to be suited for channeling the water in order to alleviate the perennial flood.
