On the PDP platform, Kaduna lawmaker Ibrahim Usman won the senatorial rerun primary election for the Kaduna Central senatorial district.
Out of the 223 votes cast, Usman, a former chairman of Kaduna North Local Government Area, received 210 votes, defeating five other candidates.
Remember that on November 2, 2022, a Federal High Court in Kaduna State annulled the PDP’s May 24 primary election for the Kaduna central senatorial district because of irregularities and overvoting. Lawal Adamu had won the election.
The court, which was presided over by Justice Muhammed Umar, also mandated that the party hold a new primary within 14 days.
The court’s decision came as a result of a lawsuit filed by one of the senatorial candidates, Ibrahim Usman, who contested the May 24 primary that resulted in Lawal Adamu’s victory.
However, in the new primary held on Monday, Istifanus Mwansat, the head of the electoral commission, pronounced Ibrahim Usman the victor after receiving 210 votes overall from the 223 authorized delegates who took part in the process.
Professor Usman Mohammed received two votes, while Lawal Adamu received five votes.
Out of the 223 accredited delegates, 221 votes were cast, and 4 votes were rendered.
