IGP announces DIG Akano’s demise.

The demise of retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG Abdulrahman Akano, has been confirmed by the Inspector General of Police, or IGP.

ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, PPRO, issued a statement stating that Akano passed away quietly at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital.

In this trying time, we are sending our deepest sympathies to his family, friends, and coworkers. Our hearts are heavy with loss.

The statement said, “DIG Abdulrahman Akano left an indelible mark on the law enforcement community throughout his illustrious career, serving the nation with dedication and distinction.”

The announcement stated that his burial ceremonies “will take place in Iragbiji, his hometown in Osun State.”

“The IGP confirms that our sympathies and thoughts are with the family, friends, and well-wishers during this difficult time as they grieve the death of a magnificent person, and it said.
