The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has approved the appointment of four new Police Commissioners to oversee Commands in Abia, Lagos, Ebonyi, and Akwa-Ibom States. The newly appointed Commissioners are:
– CP Danladi Nda (Abia State Command)
– CP Olanrewaju Ishola Olawale (Lagos State Command)
– CP Anthonia Adaku Uche-Anya (Ebonyi State Command)
– CP Festus Eribo (Akwa-Ibom State Command)
These appointments are part of the IGP’s strategy to reposition the Nigeria Police Force, optimize human resources, and enhance security across the nation. In a statement released on Wednesday, Egbetokun urged the new Commissioners to exercise diligence in their roles and devise innovative strategies to tackle security challenges in their jurisdictions. He also encouraged them to support ongoing police reform initiatives aimed at improving the effectiveness of the Force and contributing to national development.
This deployment follows previous tactical moves, including the 2023 election duty redeployment of senior officers such as AIG Abutu Yaro and CP Okon Effiong.
Additionally, the IGP has mandated immediate transfers of several Police Commissioners to further enhance the Police Force’s performance and ensure effective law enforcement. Notable transfers include:
– CP Olatunji Disu to lead the Police Force in the Federal Capital Territory.
– CP Peter Opara appointed as the new head of the Police in Delta State.
– CP Abaniwonda Olufemi designated as the leader of the Police Force in Rivers State.
