-Super Falcons striker among top contenders in Morocco
-Chebbak, Ndiaye lead scorers with four goals each

Super Falcons forward, Chiwendu Ihezuo, is making her mark at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), emerging as one of the tournament’s leading scorers.

Ihezuo, who plies her trade with Mexican side Pachuca, has netted two goals in three matches for Nigeria, keeping her firmly in the hunt for the prestigious Golden Boot award.

Despite her solid form, the race remains stiff. Morocco’s captain, Ghizlane Chebbak, and Senegal’s prolific forward, Nguenar Ndiaye, currently top the goal-scoring chart with four goals apiece.

Zambia’s attacking powerhouses, Barbara Banda and Rachel Kundananji, are not far behind, having each scored three goals, while Senegal’s Mama Diop, Ghana’s Alice Kusi, and Morocco’s Yasmine Mrabet join Ihezuo on two goals each.

With the knockout stages around the corner, Ihezuo will need to stay sharp if she hopes to close the gap and stake her claim on the tournament’s top scorer honour.
