Gbaji, Nigeria – The Nigeria Immigration Service has apprehended a notorious suspected kidnapper and ritualist, Obi Levi Obieze, also known as Levi Obu Onyeka, as he attempted to flee the country. The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, KN Nandap, confirmed the arrest, describing it as a significant breakthrough in the hunt for fugitives involved in heinous crimes.

 

Enugu Police Declared Suspect Wanted

 

Obieze, a self-styled native doctor from Umuojor village in Isiagu Community, Enugu State, had been declared wanted by the Enugu State Police Command. Authorities linked him to a recent kidnapping and ritual killing attempt, sparking a statewide manhunt.

 

13-Year-Old Girl Rescued from Shrine

 

Earlier this week, three men allegedly abducted a 13-year-old girl as she walked to the farm with her father. Law enforcement officers tracked the kidnappers and stormed a shrine tied to Obieze, where they successfully rescued the victim.

 

Border Escape Thwarted by Immigration Officers

 

Obieze’s escape plan crumbled at the Gbaji checkpoint along the Badagry-Seme Road, where vigilant immigration officers intercepted and arrested him while he tried to flee on a motorcycle.

 

Immigration Spokesman Confirms Arrest

 

In an official statement, the Public Relations Officer of the Immigration Service, ACI AS Akinlabi, revealed that officers acted swiftly on intelligence and confirmed Obieze’s identity before detaining him. The suspect is now in custody, awaiting transfer to relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution.
