The families of the security officers slain in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State have received condolences from the Federal Government.
In two patrol vehicles in the neighborhood on Tuesday, gunmen had slain and burned some soldiers, police officers, and members of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps.
Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, commiserated with the relatives of the deceased on Thursday and referred to their deaths as unfortunate, making a promise that the FG would do everything in its power to see that those responsible were held accountable.
The minister assured that the relatives of the deceased would not be forgotten, according to a statement released on Thursday by Ajibola Afonja, the director of press for the ministry.
The minister expressed his sadness over the tragic event that occurred in the Umualumaku community in Imo State’s Ehime Mbano Local Government Area.
“It is tragic that our security personnel were killed. We had a difficult Tuesday since one of our soldiers was killed while performing his duties. And for this reason, I keep stating that the work that our security professionals do is thankless.
“We will make sure that their memory are preserved on behalf of the ministry and President Bola Tinubu.
We’ll put forth endless effort to look into this horrific crime and prosecute those responsible.
