Babatunji Wusu –
After an explosion within the Rivers State House of Assembly compound, security personnel have taken control of the building.
On Sunday night, there was an explosion inside the Rivers State House of Assembly compound, causing several goods inside the chamber to be destroyed.
It was learned that the event happened at around 9:30 p.m. when some people who were suspected of being arsonists hurled an explosive into the complex, starting a fire in the assembly building.
This is occurring amid reports that certain legislators are attempting to remove Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara from office due to his disagreement with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike.
It was discovered that certain legislators had made plans to remove Fubara by first impeaching Eddison Ehie, the majority leader.
But more than fifty security personnel from the Department of State Services (DSS) and the Nigerian Police, according to Leadership, have taken control of the Assembly Complex and the entire street leading up to the legislative edifice.
On Monday morning, however, the security personnel gave drivers and other road users the advice to take detours instead of the original routes to reach their destinations.
In addition, four armored personnel carriers (APC) and roughly 17 security trucks were positioned at the assembly complex’s entrance and nearby areas.
