On Saturday, tragedy struck when a car accident at Isma village on the Bauchi-Jos Highway resulted in the deaths of five people.
Yusuf Abdullahi, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Bauchi State, confirmed the number during a Saturday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi.
He said that two further people were critically hurt in the collision between a Peugeot 406 and a DAF tanker.
He said that speeding was to blame for the collision.
“Three adult males, three adult females, and one female kid were among the seven people killed in the collision.
“The child and two each of the male and female perished instantly.
According to him, “two others, a guy and a female, sustained varied degrees of significant injury.”
Both the dead and the injured, according to Mr. Abdullahi, had been transported to Bauchi’s Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital.
He bemoaned the losses and urged drivers to constantly be aware of the norms and regulations of the road.
