IN ABUJA, TINUBU PARTICIPATES IN THE AFRICAN COUNTER-TERRORISM SUMMIT (VIDEO)

Monday saw the opening of the High-Level African Counter-Terrorism Summit by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA) in Abuja is the location of the meeting.

Remember that the presidency announced in a statement on Sunday that Nigeria is hosting a high-level African counterterrorism summit in Abuja from April 22 to 23 with the support of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT). The theme of the summit is “Strengthening Regional Cooperation and Institution Building to Address the Evolving Threat of Terrorism.”

According to the statement, the summit’s goals are to strengthen international counterterrorism collaboration and rethink how the world responds to terrorism in Africa, with a focus on African-led and African-owned solutions.

According to the presidency, the summit will offer a forum for discussing the scope and character of the terrorist threat on the continent and for deciding on specific strategic priorities and countermeasures.

Additionally, it stated that the summit will promote closer regional cooperation, strengthening member states’ institutional capacities and enabling the sharing of best practices and information to counter the complex challenge of terrorism in Africa.

Vladimir Voronkov, the Under-Secretary-General of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, and Ms. Amina Mohammed, the Deputy Secretary-General of the UN, are among the special guests attending this high-level security summit.

Among them are Presidents H.E. Patrice Talo of the Republic of Benin, Nana Akufo-Addo of the Republic of Ghana, and Faure Gnassingbe of the Republic of Togo.

Additionally attending are Moussa Faki Mahmat, the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, General Hanana Hanana, the Minister of National Defense of Mauritius, and HM @YusufTugga, the Minister of Foreign Affairs for Nigeria.
