Prince Funso Ayeni, the candidate for the Ekiti North senatorial seat, and Otunba Ajayi Babatunde Samuel have both had their suspensions restored by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national leadership (Ekiti North II Federal Constituency Candidate).

When the pair came before a Disciplinary Committee, the PDP said it lifted the suspension on them after they expressed regret for their behavior, reaffirmed their party loyalty, and recommitted to the party’s success at all levels in the upcoming general elections in 2023.

Recall that seven PDP candidates running for seats in the federal legislature in Ekiti State were suspended last week due to suspected anti-party activity. They were Ajijola Lateef Oladimeji (Ekiti Central), Akerele Oluyinka (Ekiti North I federal constituency), Ayeni, Samuel, Emiola Adenike Jennifer (Ekiti South II federal constituency), Olayinka James Olalere (Ekiti Central), and Fayose Oluwajomiloju John (Ekiti Central I federal constituency).

Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, a former governor of Enugu State and senatorial contender, as well as Chief Chris Ogbu of the party’s Imo State chapter were both suspended by the organization for the same offense.

Ayeni and Samuel, according to the PDP’s national press secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, displayed regret when they appeared before the party’s disciplinary committee on Saturday.
