The Kaduna State Police Command apprehended a serving Inspector who attempted to murder and steal his colleague’s gun while on duty in Kafanchan.
In addition, the Command foiled a rail line vandalism operation, impounded the conveyance truck, and retrieved exhibits.
In a statement, DSP Muhammad Jalige, the Police Command’s spokesperson, stated that “the attention of the Kaduna State Police Command has been drawn to a viral video on the social media space where it is alleged that a serial police killer who is also a Police Officer has been arrested.”
“However, in order to limit the spread of misinformation, the Command wishes to correct the record.”
“A distress situation occurred on the 16th of June, 2023, at about 1930 hours, at the Police Mobile Force base of 62 Squadron Kafanchan, Kaduna, where a certain Inspector Moses Paul attempted to kill his duty partner Inspector Simnawa Paul.”
“An incident that occurred while the two were on duty at the said base prompted Inspector Moses Paul to strangle the neck of an unsuspecting colleague with a rope.” “However, the victim was rescued by two other Police Officers whose attention was drawn to his cries.”
“Preliminary inquiries reveal the primary motive was an attempt to cart away Inspector Simnawa Paul’s rifle,” the Command stated. “The remote cause of action will be ascertained at the end of the full scale investigation, during which the culprit will face both disciplinary and legal proceedings.”
Rail vandals are targeted by command.
In addition, DSP Jalige added in another statement, “Following credible intelligence, personnel of the Kaduna State Police Command busted a gang of rail line vandals on the 22nd June, 2023 at about 2230 hours.” Unknown individuals arrived in Sanzwan, Zonkwa, Zango Kataf Local Government Area, with an articulated vehicle (DAF) with registration number DAL 172 YL and vandalized around 600 pieces of railway rails.”
“Upon receiving the information, police officers were quickly mobilized to the crime scene.” When the suspects saw the police officers, they fled the site and abandoned the vehicle intended to transport the destroyed objects.”
“Although no arrests were made, the said vehicle was immediately impounded and the exhibits recovered.” And on June 25th, 2023, two further trucks were caught at a different site along the Kasuwan Magani axis, fully laden with railway slippers, and two suspects were apprehended, with all exhibit retrieved and brought into custody.”
The Command added that it has increased its attempts to apprehend the fleeing individuals while the inquiry is ongoing.
“The Commissioner of Police commended the gallant personnel for halting the vandals’ activities while charging the public to always make credible information available on time,” the statement continued.
