According to reports, gunmen killed a trader and kidnapped two of his children in Oja Tuntun Baboko, a well-known market in Ilorin, the state capital of Kwara.
The two kids, however, managed a lucky escape from the kidnappers’ den after their captors fell asleep, according to information obtained by THE PREMIER NEWS.
According to information obtained, the incident took place on Thursday, September 29, 2022, at their home in Gaa Osibi, Ilorin West local government area of the state.
It was said that the trader, Alfa Tunde Aribidesi, passed away from matchet wounds he received during the kidnapping attempt. The kidnappers allegedly broke into his home and took Jamiu (12 years) and Sambo with them (15 years)
According to reports, the kidnappers later made contact with his family through the kidnapped kids and demanded N10 million in exchange for the kids’ release.
However, at midnight on Sunday, the kidnappers reportedly fell asleep in the jungle, and the two kids managed to escape from their hideout.
The kids confirmed that they managed to get out while the captors were asleep.
We fled from the forest when they (the kidnappers) were sleeping, and we returned at our house early in the morning. The kidnappers had used the phone of our late father to contact our relatives and demand N10 million in ransom.
The two children’s escape was confirmed by a doctor (names omitted) who claimed to have cared for them in his hospital.
