Babatunji Wusu –

Four persons were killed and numerous more were kidnapped in a new bandit attack on Pandogari in the Rafi local government area of Niger State.

Before kidnapping unarmed residents of the town, the bandits stormed it and shot randomly to cause fear.

Alfa Ibrahim, a village member, claimed that the attackers entered the hamlet via Makera Road and the highway going to Kaduna State’s Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.

Ibrahim described how the bandits arrived on nine motorcycles, each carrying two or three persons, and fired at unarmed civilians.

It was unclear if the security personnel posted in the Pandogari, a commercial sub-urban area, were able to engage them. However, it was established that vigilantes confronted them and routed them with greater firepower.

The robbers then shot one of the vigilantes and killed three of them with guns.

“We learned about the upcoming attack at 5 o’clock. One of the four entrances to the community is guarded by a military detachment, which they chose to avoid, according to a second villager who wished to remain anonymous.

He claimed that the bandits entered the neighborhood while riding roughly nine motorcycles, each of which was carrying two or three people carrying lethal weapons.

Ahmed Suleiman Yumu, the state commissioner for humanitarian affairs and disaster management, verified the occurrence and promised that contacts will be made to determine the humanitarian situation and the necessary actions.
