Seven bandits who had been terrorizing farmers in Niger State’s Kumbashi district of Mariga local government area were slain by police, and 18 criminals and thugs were detained in Minna.
Wasiu Abiodun, a spokesman for the police, verified this yesterday in Minna and claimed it was all a part of the state’s continuing campaign against bandits.
According to him, “local vigilante/hunters and police tactical teams stationed in Kumbashi town engaged the bandits in a shootout, and although others fled into the forest with bullet wounds, seven of the hoodlums were neutralized.”
He claimed that two of the vigilante group’s members had been shot and were being treated at Kontagora General Hospital.
