IN ORDER TO PROSECUTE 215 ELECTORAL OFFENDERS, INEC WILL ENGAGE WITH 427 ATTORNEYS IN 2023.

According to the INEC, it has 215 case files from the Nigerian Police about electoral violations during the general elections in 2023. At a meeting with state Resident Electoral Commissioners RECs on Tuesday to evaluate the general election, INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu made this announcement.

In light of this, he stated that the commission is collaborating with the NBA to bring charges against the electoral violators, and he added that the NBA had donated 427 attorneys to the cause.

In addition, Yakubu stated that INEC will take appropriate measures against suspended Adamawa REC Yunusa Ari as soon as the commission got the police report.

“We are investigating the actions of all election participants, including some of our top officials.

I can attest that the police handed us the case file after concluding their investigation into the actions of our resident electoral commissioner in Adamawa state.
