On Friday, August 25, the National Military Cemetery in Abuja served as the final resting place for no fewer than 22 military soldiers who died in action in Niger State.

At least 36 officers were killed, according to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), who made the announcement on August 14. The officers were killed when some insurgents shot down their helicopter in the Zungeru region of Niger State.

Following a recent bandit raid, the army were sent to Kundu hamlet in Wushishi Local Government Area.

The 22 who were burial on Friday included some of the fallen officers who had already been buried by their individual families.
