With two assists against England in the FIFA World Cup quarterfinal, France’s Antoine Griezmann moved into first place all-time in French football history with 28 assists.

Griezmann broke the top mark shared by Zinedine Zidane and Thierry Henry (26).

Griezmann handed the ball to Aurelien Tchouameni in the 17th minute, and Tchouameni fired a shot into the bottom left corner to put his team ahead in the game.

In the 78th minute, he found Olivier Giroud on the left flank, and the forward headed the ball into the goal. This was his second assist of the game.

In the first half, Griezmann completed 26 of his 27 passes, and in the final third, he completed 7 of 7, including the assist for Tchouameni.

The attacker is third on the all-time list of goal scorers for his nation with 42 goals, behind Olivier Giroud (52) and Thierry Henry (51).
