Owerri – The Igbo National Council (INC) Worldwide has declared unwavering support for Rivers State to produce the next President General (PG) of Ohanaeze Ndigbo in the highly anticipated January 2025 elections.
In a statement released today at its Leadership Center in Owerri, the INC expressed concerns over alleged moves by certain factions within Ohanaeze Ndigbo to sideline Rivers State, despite its constitutional entitlement to the leadership position.
“We have taken this bold stand to ensure that Rivers State is not shortchanged or undermined in what is rightfully its turn,” stated INC President, Chilos A.C. Godsent. “The INC is ready to employ every justifiable means, including legal and political mobilization, to ensure Rivers State’s rightful place in Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s leadership.”
The INC urged aspirants from Rivers State to formally declare their intentions to contest for the position without delay. It also announced plans to engage key stakeholders and harmonize conflicting interests before December 2024, with the goal of selecting a candidate of integrity and credibility to lead Ohanaeze Ndigbo.
This decisive move underscores the INC’s commitment to fairness, regional equity, and the unity of Ndigbo as the January 2025 elections approach.
