The deadline for collecting Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) has been extended by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to February 5, 2023.

The deadline for the collection of PVCs had already been extended by INEC, but a National Commissioner working with Festus Okoye, the electoral umpire, stated the date has now been advanced by one week.

The action, according to him, was taken after a meeting of INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioners (RECs).

The Commission has decided to further extend PVC collecting in all of its Local Government Offices nationally by an additional one week in response to reports from the various States and talks with Resident Electoral Commissioners. Therefore, the current nationwide PVC collection will continue and conclude on February 5, 2023,” Okoye stated in a statement on Saturday.

“The Commission is expanding PVC collection across the country for the second time, and this is the final stretch of the campaign. The collection period will now run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day, including Saturdays and Sundays, after being extended by an additional two hours.
