According to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), some terrorists posing as Nigerian security personnel have carried out attacks in the South-East.

The assailants have been burning homes, cars, and other goods in the area while pretending to be seeking for IPOB members, according to a statement made by IPOB spokesperson Emma Powerful on Wednesday.

Residents in the area were being detained and extorted, according to IPOB, who also claimed that those who refused to pay were either killed or imprisoned.

The statement said, in part, “The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) hereby warns Nigeria Police, DSS, and Army to stop burning people’s properties in the name of looking for IPOB members. IPOB is under the command and leadership of our great leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is unlawfully detained in DSS solitary confinement.

“It is clear that the Nigerian security forces parading across Biafra land are not legitimate, professional security officers but rather terrorists who have been infiltrated into the security apparatus of Nigeria in order to terrorize Biafrans.

The’repentant terrorists’ were enlisted and transported to Biafra land to obliterate our way of life and our people. Some of them are involved in robbing innocent Biafrans of their autos.

The statement read, “These terrorists in Nigerian security uniforms are brainwashed to hate Ndigbo and have besieged Alaigbo.”

“They label them as IPOB backers in the cases of their political rivals and affluent Igbo individuals. Even good-hearted Igbo youths are not exempt. They can arbitrarily kidnap innocent teenagers, label them IPOB members, and demand hundreds of thousands or millions of Naira to buy their release or risk being imprisoned or, worse yet, extrajudicially slain.

The group said, “We, therefore, call on the Nigerian government to schedule a date for the Biafra referendum and unconditionally release our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who is being held against his will in the DSS dungeon.”
