A Nigerian businessman and social media personality, Isaac Fayose, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not secure up to 20 percent of votes in Nigeria’s South East in the 2027 general elections.

Fayose made the claim in a Facebook post while reacting to a recent outing by the City Boys Movement in Owerri, Imo State.

The City Boys Movement, a political support group established by Seyi Tinubu, had earlier visited the state as part of efforts to mobilize support for President Tinubu ahead of the next presidential election.

However, the event drew criticism on social media over what observers described as a low turnout of participants, despite the presence of several personalities, including popular socialite and businessman Cubana Chief Priest.

Reacting to the development, Fayose described the outing as unimpressive and challenged members of the group to a wager over the president’s electoral prospects in the South East.

According to him, unless the election is manipulated, President Tinubu would not secure 20 percent of the total votes cast in the region.

“The City Boys Movement outing in Owerri, Imo State yesterday was a show of shame. Security operatives there were more than the crowd,” Fayose wrote.

“I am ready to bet any of them 10 million naira. President Tinubu won’t get 20 percent of the total votes cast come 2027,” he added.

The South East remains one of the regions where the ruling All Progressives Congress has historically struggled to gain widespread electoral support.
