On Thursday, Yaniv Ben Simon, an Israeli fugitive and the most-wanted criminal gang leader, was captured by South African authorities.
According to reports, Simon and seven other members of the criminal organization Abergil were captured in a Johannesburg suburb.
According to a South African police statement, the 46-year-old Israeli has been on Interpol’s “red notice” list since 2015 since Israel had issued an arrest warrant for him for attempted murder and murder plot.
Although various publications, including The Times of Israel, identified the culprit, the authorities are withholding it until after his anticipated 48-hour court appearance.
During the raid, the police recovered three potentially stolen motorcycles, $40,000, five assault rifles, and seven pistols.
