Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen won the 2023 Italian Footballers’ Association Footballer of the Year award after an incredible 2022–2023 season with Napoli.

The biggest winner of the Monday award event, which also honored the best team, coach, club, and goal of the year, was Victor Osimhen.

Remember that Osimhen scored 26 goals and contributed five assists to help Napoli win the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years during the previous season, which served as a yardstick to determine the winners?

The 24-year-old Nigerian striker earned the Serie A Golden Boot and was named Italy’s top striker as a result of his performance.

At the 2023 Ballon d’Or, Osimhen placed eighth overall and received a nomination for the FIFA Best award.

Victor Osimhen joined Mike Maignan, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Kim Min-jae, Andrea Bastoni, Stanislav Lobotka, Stan Hernández, Hakan Çalhanoğlu, Nicolo Barella, Rafael Leão, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia on the Serie A team of the year at the 2023 Italian Footballers’ Association Footballer of the Year awards.

The Nigerian international has continued to have a strong goals-per-game ratio this season in spite of a more challenging start to the campaign and subsequent injury concerns. In his ten games thus far, he has six goals.
