Babatunji Wusu –

Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, refuted a social media post that claimed N10,000 in cash transfers had been approved for Christmas and New Year’s celebrations.

In a statement released on Monday, the governor—through his press secretary, Christian Aburime—described the mail as fraudulent and alerted the people of Anambra to the possibility that it was sent by someone attempting to con gullible members of the public.

He cautioned that the government does not run any fund transfer programs through dubious internet applications or connections, and that it is best to ignore the links that the scammers were sending.

“The Anambra State Government has been made aware of a false and deceptive message that has been making the rounds on social media and other online channels, purporting that the government has authorized a ‘₦10,000 cash transfer giveaway’ for all citizens in conjunction with the Christmas and New Year celebrations,” the statement read.

We firmly declare that the Anambra State Government has not authorized this material, and it is wholly untrue and deceptive.

The public is urged not to click on the phony link included in the mail since doing so could expose their personal information.

“There is no such cash transfer program run by the Anambra State Government via dubious internet sites or applications.
