Nollywood actress and filmmaker Iyabo Ojo has fiercely defended her daughter, Priscilla Ojo, in response to recent comments by Tanzanian media personality Mange Kimambi. The controversy stems from Kimambi’s public advice to Priscilla and her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, urging them to refrain from sharing romantic posts on social media ahead of the country’s upcoming elections.

Ojo took to Instagram to call out Kimambi for what she described as audacity and intimidation, warning her to stay out of her daughter’s personal life. The actress made it clear that her daughter is free to post whatever she wants online and that no one has the authority to dictate otherwise.

“@mangekimambi80 I’m appalled by your audacity,” Ojo wrote in a strongly-worded Instagram post. “Calling their content stupid and trying to instill fear is unacceptable. I’ve raised my daughter to be confident and authentic. She’ll post what she likes, when she likes.”

The actress also addressed and debunked rumors circulating that the Tanzanian government had sponsored Priscilla’s elaborate wedding. Ojo clarified that the event was fully funded by the bride’s family, in accordance with cultural tradition.

“It’s not your government that gave us money,” she stated. “The wife’s family covers the costs in our tradition. I wanted an elaborate wedding for my daughter, and we, the Nigerians, gave her one.”

She went further to highlight that as a mother and activist, she stands firmly in defense of her family’s rights and freedom of expression.

“You, living in America, think you can dictate to my daughter and her husband who are living their lives peacefully in Tanzania?” she questioned. “Keep my daughter out of your affairs. We protect our own. Never forget that.”

The actress’s remarks have ignited online debate, with many Nigerians and Tanzanians weighing in on the issue.
