-Hijab Now Mandatory for Female Security Guards in Jigawa
-State Government Enforces Cultural Inclusion in New Recruitment Drive

The Jigawa State Government has directed all female security guards recruited to serve in schools, hospitals, and government buildings to wear hijabs while on duty, as part of efforts to promote cultural and religious inclusivity.

The directive was announced by the Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sports, and Culture, Sagir Musa, after the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Umar Namadi.

Sagir revealed that three private security firms contracted by the state have been instructed to comply fully with the policy. He explained that the move aims to foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive work environment for women in the security sector.

“By allowing female security operatives to wear hijabs, the government is empowering them to practice their religious and cultural beliefs without restriction,” he stated.

The commissioner added that the decision followed a report submitted by the Council Committee on Schools, Hospital, and Court Security, which evaluated workplace conditions and cultural concerns among the newly recruited personnel.

“These companies are to allow female security operatives among the 9,969 young people recruited to wear hijabs while on duty, as a matter of religious and cultural accommodation,” Sagir said.

He emphasized that the policy would boost the morale and confidence of female staff and reaffirm the Namadi administration’s commitment to policies that uphold modesty, dignity, and religious freedom.

Governor Umar Namadi recently approved the recruitment of 9,969 youth as security guards across government facilities in Jigawa, a move aimed at enhancing local security and reducing unemployment.
