The Jigawa State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on crime, arresting suspected cattle rustlers, motorcycle thieves and drug dealers in coordinated operations across the state.
Police operatives recovered a vehicle, stolen motorcycles, livestock and illicit drugs during the raids, reinforcing the command’s renewed security push.
Spokesman for the command, SP Shiisu Lawan Adam, disclosed that the arrests stem from strategic directives issued by the Commissioner of Police, Dahiru Muhammad, aimed at tightening the state’s security network and dismantling criminal syndicates.
He revealed that on January 15, 2026, a patrol team in Hadejia intercepted a dark green Golf 3 vehicle along the Hadejia/Kano Road. The vehicle, driven by Adamu Sani Ya’u with Musa Abdullahi as passenger, was flagged on suspicion of being used to transport stolen livestock.
A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered animal droppings, animal hair, rope, suspected Indian hemp, a Rizler paper, a blanket and an extra number plate — items investigators believe link the suspects to cattle rustling activities. The duo is currently undergoing interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Dutse.
In a separate operation in Taura Local Government Area, hoodlums reportedly barricaded a road and forcefully dispossessed a resident of his motorcycle. Acting on credible intelligence, police tracked and recovered the stolen bike, disrupting what authorities described as a growing pattern of road ambush robberies in the area.
Detectives in Birnin Kudu further tightened the noose on criminal elements, arresting three suspected motorcycle thieves and recovering a Bajaj motorcycle. Another unregistered motorcycle was seized in Hadejia after a suspect fled upon sighting officers, abandoning the bike.
The police command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-led operations, warning criminal elements to desist or face the full weight of the law.
